³⁸ Therefore, the man who gives her in marriage does well, and the one who does not give her in marriage does better.

³⁹ A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But should the husband die, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, only let it be in the Lord. ⁴⁰ However, in my opinion she is happier if she remains as she is, and I believe that I too have the Spirit of God.
